Article: MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND ISSUES DRAFT VERTREP RFP By Chuck Steele

The Military Sealift Command (MSC) yesterday issued a draft request for proposals (RFP) inviting commercial helicopter operators to fly vertical replenishment (VERTREP) missions in support of the Navy's Atlantic Fleet.

The contract will be a best value award that is expected to span three years with the possibility of two additional one-year options. The contract would be initiated in FY '99.

MSC is looking for two detachments of helicopters that will be able to provide 3,500 pounds of lifting capacity with a full load of fuel and 5,500 pounds capacity when partially fueled. Each detachment of helicopters must be constituted of like-model aircraft capable of ...
