New TCP/IP SLP Extends Ease-of-Use of Print Server Family
WOBURN, Mass., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Axis Communications, Inc. in conjunction with industry leaders Novell and Sun Microsystems is adopting and implementing the Service Location Protocol (SLP) to simplify the management and use of networked devices and services. SLP is a new, innovative protocol developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards group that provides automatic resource discovery and registration over TCP/IP networks, allowing clients to transparently locate best-available services without having to specify the device.
