GENERAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL: AGENDA 2000, TUNISIA, MOLDOVA AND MEXICO ON JULY 13/14 BILL OF FARE

Summary:

This is set to be the first General Affairs Council to be chaired by Wolfgang Sch ssel, the Austrian Foreign Minister, who will take the opportunity, during a debate on July 13, to outline his work programme. The meeting will give the Ministers an opportunity to take note of what the Government in Vienna has in mind for work on the Agenda 2000 reform package and to prepare for the first negotiating meeting with prospective EU members, a meeting the Austrians plan to hold in November on the sidelines of the General Affairs Council. The Ministers will gather together again on July 14 for a series of meetings with Tunisia, Moldova and Mexico.
