CHICAGO, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Focal Communications Corporation (Focal), a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC), attributes the following statement to Robert Taylor, Focal's President and CEO, regarding an Ameritech complaint filed with the ICC claiming that Focal is improperly utilizing phone numbers.
"This accusation is truly absurd. The numbers speak for themselves. We have fewer codes within the 847 area than other carriers. Of the 679 codes assigned in 847, Ameritech has assigned itself approximately 50% or 336 codes.
