HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 24, 1998--The Meridian Resource Corporation (NYSE:TMR) today announced the successful test of the previously reported discovery in the Myles Salt No. 32 Well at Weeks Island Field. The well was directionally drilled under a salt overhang on the north flank of the Weeks Island Dome, and encountered 551 feet of gross pay, (362 feet net) in the " U " sand. From perforations of 6548' to 6612' near the base of the gross sand interval, the well tested at a rate of 2,282 BO/D, 659 MCF/D, and 7.2 BW/D, with a flowing tubing pressure of 828 psi through a 28/64 inch choke. The well will be placed on production July 25, 1998 at approximately 1500 BOPD. ...
