Article: Matson Navigation Company Revises Hawaii Service Vessel Schedule.

HONOLULU--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 1998--Matson Navigation Company is revising its Hawaii Service vessel schedule, effective August 12, in an effort to reduce costs and better match cargo demand with vessel capacity.

This action is being taken as a direct result of the prolonged weakness of Hawaii's economy and its effect on the movement of cargo between the U.S. mainland and Hawaii. The key component of the new schedule is the reduction from four to three Hawaii vessel arrivals per week. This will allow Matson to place two vessels in a reserve status.

Matson will still have 156 Hawaii round-trip voyages per year, which is 50 percent more westbound arrivals ...
