WOODSTOCK, Vt.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 1998--The Woodstock National Bank board of directors today announced its plans to merge with its sister bank, First Vermont Bank, another Banknorth Group member company based in Brattleboro, Vt. The announcement was made by Woodstock National Board Chairman Thomas Debevoise following the approval from the boards of directors of both banks. The combination of the two banks is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to take place this fall with Woodstock's three offices becoming branch offices of First Vermont Bank.
