Long before the Internet became a household word and the online bookstore Amazon.com became a cultural phenomenon, Mr. Stack, 44, sold books via an electronic bulletin board. Then known as Book Stacks Unlimited, the bookstore can now be found at www.books.com and it rivals Amazon.com in size and scope, if not in publicity.
