Article: Project Open Hand Receives City Contract to Feed Seniors

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Project Open Hand has been awarded a contract to provide meals to seniors at 17 neighborhood sites by San Francisco's Commission on the Aging, a contract relinquished by The Salvation Army last month when Salvation Army officials announced they could not comply with San Francisco's Domestic Partner Ordinance. Project Open Hand will be preparing nutritious daily lunches from its new kitchen facility and feeding 3500 seniors annually at congregate meal sites throughout San Francisco beginning September 1, 1998.
