A study by the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology released today contends that the diet drug combination 'fen-phen' may have posed risks for lung and heart disease in patients because the two medications taken together caused a build-up of serotonin. The study authors further suggests there may be similar health concerns regarding the use of antidepressants and phentermine, or antidepressants and certain over- the-counter cold and allergy remedies.
