HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania's first-ever trade mission to Africa's "biggest emerging market" -- the Republic of South Africa -- grew from 22 to 24 Pennsylvania employers, research institutions and associations since it was announced on Sept. 1.
The delegation, led by four of Gov. Tom Ridge's Cabinet secretaries, will be in South Africa from Sept. 12 to Sept. 19.
South Africa is one of the world's top 10 "Big Emerging Markets," according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. In 1997, Pennsylvania's exports to South Africa exceeded $108 million, more than any other African nation.
