PHILADELPHIA -- As drug chains continue to struggle with thinning pharmacy margins many are turning to quick-moving, value-priced general merchandise to bolster sales in the front of their stores.
And to the delight of retail buyers, a large number of suppliers brought new products fitting that description to this year's National Association of Chain Drug Stores Marketplace.
"There were a lot of products that caught my eye," said Vein Brunner, executive vice president of marketing at Walgreen Co. "And a lot of them were unique."
