NEW YORK -- Efforts to combat the use of illegal drugs among young people have given rise to home test kits designed to help parents cope with the problem. However, the still-emerging market for such products may experience significant changes if the category is expanded to include kits that provide immediate results in the home.
As it stands, only drug tests that are sent to a laboratory for analysis have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for retail sale.
