Article: Housing Authority Opens Section 8 Registration for First Time in Eight Years.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 1998--The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) will reopen its Section 8 registration list on Sept. 15, 1998 for the first time since 1990.

"Due to the small number of incremental certificates and vouchers funded by Congress since the 1990 open registrations, application processing has been prolonged for eight years," said HACLA Executive Director Don Smith. "In spite of the fiscal challenges, we still want to provide as much affordable, decent and safe housing for as many needy families as possible."
