WHERE TIME STANDS STILL
MARY ROACH sat on theside of her bed mending a torn slip and wondering who would have been foolish enough to wash such a delicate garment in a machine. Mary wouldn't have done it that way. Then again, there's a lot in Mary Roach's life these days that she would do differently, if only she could.
