With his pricy Blue Label $1,000 clothing, comparable sportswear and furnishings currently generating 40 percent of the business in his baronial Beverly Hills store on Rodeo Drive, the designer decided to go public with a wholesale line. The first collection under the Hilfiger Blue Label is being launched for fall '99 in better specialty stores across the country.
