Rolling Stone looks back
"I wanna see my smiling face on the cover of the Rolling Stone,' sang the rock band Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show in the early 1970s. Today, as Rolling Stone celebrates its 20th anniversary, rock performers, movie stars and politicians are still singing the same tune.
But Rolling Stone has come a long way since its early days as a black-and-white, newsprint publication, a scruffy voice of the sixties counterculture covering rock and roll music.
