BORDADOS MATY'S U.S. EXPANSION
MEXICO CITY (FNS) -- Mexico's Bordados Maty group has worked its way up from a household garment shop to a children's apparel leader here with an estimated 7 percent of the Mexican children's wear market and is now aiming to become a leading exporter.
Carolina Garcia began making blouses 33 years ago as a household sideline to help complement her forest ranger husband's wages. Her handembroidered, fret-worked designs met with such success that she opened a garment shop -- in addition to raising 3 children -- and soon her husband quit his job to help her organize and promote their growing apparel business.
