MONTECITO, Calif. -- "Oh Etta, where's the turban?" Jane Russell calls out in her throaty voice from the bedroom of her home in this woodsy, expensive suburb of Santa Barbara. Etta Waterfield, Russell's daughter-in-law, finds the proper turban from a jumble of clothing samples, and Russell's outfit is complete. She turns to the camera and poses, remembering the contortionist moves she had learned to show off her famous figure, with shoulders one way and hips another.
