GALANOS FALL
NEW YORK -- "Everything is extremely short, but then we've been short for a long time," says James Galanos, who's showing lots of mini lenghts in his fall collection, currently on view at the Plaza Hotel. His other big messages this season include a strong tunic statement, in blouses, jackets and coats; big sleeves, even Renaissance-style bells, often with shirred details; subtle proportion plays, like a long-in-back tunic jacket with side slits that reveal a tunic top and short skirt; bold, often convertible collars on coats and jackets; intriguing texture and color combinations, and high waists.
