SHELBY WILLIAMS SELLS HIGH POINT, N.C., MANUFACTURING UNIT

CHICAGO, Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Shelby Williams, Inc. (NYSE: SY) today announced the sale of its High Point, N.C., office furniture manufacturing unit to Bassett Furniture Industries of North Carolina, a subsidiary of Bassett Furniture, for an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to Manfred Steinfeld, Shelby Williams chairman and chief executive officer, the sale covers the property, plant, equipment and inventory of the above location only.
