Transportation Department Proposal Would Cause Stir in Petroleum Industry
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS legislation, proposed last week by the Department of Transportation, would cut a wide swath across the petroleum industry, including lubricants and packaging.
However, its most controversial feature would be extension of the department's jurisdiction to intrastate transportation of gasoline, home heating oil and other petroleum products.
