House OKs Funding for FTC After Giving Updated Reauthorizations

The House approved a new, formal three-year lease on life for the Federal Trade Commission after giving it updated statutory guidance on such issues as predatory pricing and resale price maintenance.

Since 1982, the FTC has lacked such formal reauthorization. Instead, it has operated under various appropriations bills and socalled continuing resolutions. By contrast, the House-approved authorization, preceded by similar Senate action, would fund FTC at levels of $69.9 million in fiscal 1988, $70.9 million in FY 1989, and $71.9 million in FY 1990.
