TEKVERK: CLOSE TO THE SKIN
Nestled away in the woods of eastern Long Island, at the end of a narrow gravel drive, stands a little gray building, unimposing and slightly weathered by a succession of Atlantic winters. At first glance, very little about the exterior betrays the structure's purpose. With the large vegetable garden in the backyard and the blossoming pumpkin vine creeping across the lawn toward the hammock, the building recalls rustic country cottages more than anything else. On the handmade pine and cedar table near the door, however, sits a handsome anteater handbag, and next to it, an antique handtool.
