LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 24, 1998--The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) reported that a record-breaking number of people have registered for Section 8 since it reopened on Sept. 15.
"After nearly a decade of remaining static, we are fast approaching 100,000 applicants within the first week of registration," said Don Smith, HACLA executive director. "As the Oct. 1 deadline approaches, HACLA is beating its 1990 record of 81,859 applicants."
