CLEVELAND--(BW HealthWire)--Sept. 24, 1998--In a move to bring the matter officially to a close, Medical Mutual of Ohio has signed a consent decree with the United States Department of Justice concerning the company's former policy of Most Favored Rates (MFR), which it voluntarily ended earlier this year.

When written into a contract, Most Favored Rates provisions required hospitals to guarantee Medical Mutual the lowest price for services in return for providing the highest volume of patients.
