Sep. 24--Rumors you may have heard about virility associated with cigars have been grossly exaggerated.
And you can thank the Jockey Club for any misapprehensions about the studliness of that largest Cigar -- the one with four hooves and pointy ears.
In the Jockey Club's 1998 foal report, the datameisters at the official thoroughbred registry reported that Cigar had been bred to 39 mares and was the proud daddy of eight offspring.
Not so, of course: Cigar is quite famously infertile. Just ask Assicurazioni Generali, the Italian company that forked over $25 million to the horse's owners when his sperm ...
