Sep. 27--Latin American economic chieftains have bashed the credit-rating Titans of New York in recent weeks in a rare display of bare-fisted attacks on these venerable Wall Street institutions.

Moody's Investor Services in particular, but all the ratings agencies in general, have come under attack since Moody's downgraded the outlook for Brazil and Venezuela in early September in the wake of the financial turmoil roiling emerging markets. It also announced that Argentina and Mexico were under review.
