Sep. 27--The tractors were both there when Wasco carrot grower Danny Fabbri left for home on a Saturday evening last summer. But when he went back to work on Monday, they were gone -- two massive pieces of heavy equipment vanished as if they had never existed.
"One tractor was worth $27,000, the other, $22,000," Fabbri lamented. "Gone -- just like that."
And that wasn't the end of it. Over the past year and a half, Fabbri Farms has lost 1,100 sprinkler heads, a $15,000 irrigation booster pump, a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle and other items. The total loss in property and damage is more than $80,000 .
