Article: Washington Mutual Details California Office Consolidations in Wake of Home Savings Acquisition.

CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 6, 1998--Filling in the blanks for a move first announced last March, Washington Mutual Inc. (Nasdaq:WAMU) Tuesday identified 161 bank branches in California that will be consolidated into neighboring offices as a result of the company's acquisition of H.F. Ahmanson & Company and its Home Savings of America subsidiary.

The consolidations are scheduled for the second quarter of 1999 and will coincide with the conversion of Home Savings branches in California to Washington Mutual systems and signage.
