Defense and aerospace stocks are rebounding in value as weary investors seek "safe havens" for their money in anticipation of broader global economic problems and increased Pentagon spending, according to Wall Street and defense analysts.
"People are responding as they would during a flood; as more and more ground is flooded out, people are crawling to the high ground, to the safe havens," Byron Callan, a first vice president at Merrill Lynch [MER], told Defense Daily yesterday. "In addition you have the defense budget that's looking up, so that's also drawing people to defense and aerospace."
