PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Standard & Poor's CreditWire 10/8/98-- Standard & Poor's today downgraded its long-term counterparty credit ratings to single-'A'-plus from double-'AA'-minus and its short-term counterparty credit and commercial paper ratings to 'A-1' from 'A-1'-plus on Banco Santander S.A. (Santander) and related entities, and Banco Santander Puerto Rico and related entities (see attached list for all ratings affected). The outlook on both banks has been revised to stable from negative. At the same time, Standard & Poor's upgraded its long-term counterparty credit ratings of subsidiary Banco Espanol de Credito S.A.
