Oct. 9--DENVER--To study economic and financial issues that affect farms and small towns, the Federal Reserve is creating the Center for the Study of Rural America.
The center, which will be in Kansas City, was announced Thursday by Thomas M. Hoenig, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
At a Fed conference in Denver on the availability of capital for rural areas, Hoenig said, "The creation of the center grows out of the significant tradition of excellence in economic research on rural and agricultural issues" at the Kansas City Federal Reserve bank.
