Ridge Administration Announces Safe Schools Grant Recipients; More Than $426,000 Awarded in Second Round of Grants; $760,000 Awarded in 1998-99.

HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Coming on the heels of Gov. Ridge's historic Pennsylvania Safe Schools Summit, Education Secretary Eugene W. Hickok today announced the 24 recipients of more than $426,000 in state safe schools grants.

"During Gov. Ridge's successful Safe Schools Summit last month, we shared with schools and communities four of Pennsylvania's best programs that are working to prevent violence and make our schools safer," said Hickok. "With these grants, we're empowering even more schools across the Commonwealth to develop effective safe schools programs similar to those we highlighted during the summit."
