BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 16, 1998--In celebration of its 75th anniversary, The Walt Disney Co. announced a weekend of worldwide volunteerism to include projects in 20 countries on five continents.
More than 17,800 participants in the Disney VoluntEARS Global Celebration of Children plan to reach 75,000 needy children through events hosted by Disney's theme parks and resorts and more than 233 of the company's offices and stores around the globe.
The company's executive team will conclude the 75th anniversary weekend of volunteerism on Monday, Oct. 19, by working on the company-sponsored Burbank Habitat for Humanity house.
