Oct. 16--This is the first of two parts updating employers on how to avoid lawsuits related to the workplace.
The Sun-Sentinel's editorial staff has been undergoing a bit of a baby boom of late. As a result, some new mothers and fathers are taking up to 12 weeks leave, mostly unpaid, to spend with their spouse and baby.
This is a right these employees are choosing to exercise under the Family and Medical Leave Act, a federal law that applies to businesses with 50 or more employees.
And my newspaper, like other employers, has an obligation to inform eligible employees of that right, how it may be ...
