TOKYO, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Religion Today Film Festival of Bologna, Italy, awarded a Special Mention to "Knight of the Rising Sun -- A Portrait of Daisaku Ikeda," a half-hour documentary on the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) leader's life. The awards ceremony took place on October 9th. The documentary -- one of only five programs honored out of 128 entries -- was originally broadcast in the Philippines in February 1998.
The program shows how, since joining the Soka Gakkai in 1947, Mr. Ikeda has helped to develop the lay Buddhist organization into an international movement aimed at fulfilling human potential with 12 million members in 128 countries.
