HSBC Holdings plc has finalised its contract with Canary Wharf Ltd to acquire a 999 year lease of a new 1.1 million sq ft headquarters building. To be designed by Foster and Partners, the 700-ft tower will be the largest single-occupier building to be constructed in the United Kingdom.
Construction by Canary Wharf Contractors Ltd will begin in early 1999 and is scheduled for completion by early 2002.
