MADRID, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/-- Telefonica (NYSE: TEF) has begun informing its customers of the changes in its numbering system for mobile phones and for international calls, both of which will go into effect on November 14.
As of that date, the first digit in all Spanish mobile phone numbers will change to 6 from the current 9. The international dialing code -- for calls from Telefonica's fixed and mobile phones -- will change from the current 07 to 00.
These changes are intended to increase the amount of available telephone numbers, respond to the arrival of new telecom operators in Spain and to adapt to the European Union's telecommunications ...
