A Northern Territory World War I veteran whose unit took part in battles on the Western Front was today presented with a Legion of Honour medal by the French Government.
The veteran, Mr Rowcliff Thompson of Alice Springs, served with the 38th Battalion, 10th Brigade, 3rd Division of the Australian Imperial Force.
The French Consul-General to Australia, Mr Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, presented the medal at a ceremony at the Returned and Services Club, Alice Springs.
