NEW YORK -- The International Fashion Fabric Exhibition here last week had a warmly welcomed Latin American accent.

Exhibitors reported a marked increase in attendance among international buyers, which they said underlined the growing importance of countries south of the border to the apparel world.

The three-day event ended last Thursday at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, where about 650 exhibitors showed a range of goods and services, including computer-assisted design and manufacturing and private label contracting, and fabrics emphasizing the fall 1999 season.
