Nov. 3--ALBANY, Ky.--For an operation many people didn't even want, Cagle's had no trouble drawing a crowd for a community tour of the chicken-processing plant last weekend.
Almost 4,500 people from as far away as Somerset and Bowling Green came to see what the state's $30 million in tax breaks and millions more in federal Empowerment Zone incentives produced.
The 276,000-square-foot plant will process its first live birds Thursday. Last week, 300 people were hired and began learning how to cut up chickens.
