Smaller Florida Crop Still a Great Value
LAKELAND, Fla., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite a smaller USDA orange crop estimate than expected for 1998-99, orange juice will remain an excellent bargain for consumers in terms of pricing, stringent quality assurance and unique health benefits.
The USDA predicts 190 million boxes of Florida oranges will be harvested, a 22 percent drop from last year's 244 million. The temporary crop decrease, which has affected other growing regions as well, is blamed on unusual climatic conditions during the past year.
