SOMERSET, NJ--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 1998--EMCORE Corporation (Nasdaq: EMKR) and OPTEK Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPTT) today announced the formation of EMTEK SENSORS L.L.C., a limited liability company, to manufacture and initially market seven new packaged sensor products based on magnetoresistive (MR) technology and to develop additional products as warranted by market conditions. According to Sensor Business Digest of Foster City, CA, the worldwide market for magnetic sensors used in industrial, commercial, and automotive applications is estimated at $1.5 billion.
