Nov. 5--Southwest Airlines may soon be coming to an airport nearer to you.
The airline known for low fares and strong on-time service might launch service from Long Island's MacArthur Airport in Islip.
Flights out of MacArthur -- which is expanding its ticket counters and baggage-claim areas -- could begin as soon as the spring, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
For bargain-savvy New Yorkers, Southwest -- the nation's seventh-largest carrier -- could be a welcome player.
