Eastern Germany is attracting chemical investment, but accounts for a relatively small part of total German chemical sales.

Although chemical investment in eastern Germany has trailed that of western Germany and western Europe, the German government has made a concerted effort to increase investment. Investment is up in the region, attracting such producers as Dow Chemical, Bayer and BASF, although sales from eastern Germany still account for only a small percentage of overall German chemical sales.
