Nov. 12--The original concept was captivating: A Bionic Dolphin that would carry a pilot underwater to view a coral reef and then jump out of the water -- just like a real dolphin.
"The dolphin goes 50 miles an hour on surface, dives underwater, jumps two feet out of water; it can do a barrel roll," said David Fuller, a partner in the Fort Lauderdale business with his wife, Sondra Fuller.
Stuart Peirson, a test pilot for the Bionic Dolphin, said riding in the prototype is thrilling. "I'm used to riding a jet ski -- this rolls over and you don't get wet."
