Nov. 12--In Mark Mastrini's budget air fare business, about 80 percent of tickets are shipped to customers overnight. So the possibility of a strike by pilots at Federal Express Corp., which handles all of Mastrini's overnight deliveries, has him a little on edge.
"It's scary," said Mastrini, whose Tampa company, 800 Travel Systems Inc., ships up to 1,000 packages daily. "FedEx tells me everything will be fine, but I've heard that before."
FedEx and its 3,200-member pilots union are deadlocked over pay issues. If two-thirds of its members approve the action, the union could call a strike as early as Dec. 3, ...
