Article: Growth Slows for Laboratory Instrumentation Sales Index.

Third quarter revenues for the companies in the IBO Laboratory Instrument Sales Index have begun to slow down. After growing 4.2% in the second quarter, as compared to the like period, third quarter revenues grew 4.0% over the previous third quarter and are far below the 10.6% growth exhibited in the third quarter of 1997 over 1996. In fact, this is the worst third quarter improvement in the last ten years of the index. Over half of the companies in the index reported an increase in revenue, but 30% of those companies had sales increases of less than 2%.
