Liberty Mutual International has acquired Latinoamericana de Seguros SA, a leading provider of property, casualty, life and workers' compensation insurance in Colombia.
Liberty Mutual International, a subsidiary of Boston-based Liberty Mutual Group, plans to combine Latino-americana with Skandia Seguros Generales SA, another Colombian insurance concern it acquired in 1997. The combined operations would form the fifth-largest insurance company in the country, controlling about 6 percent of the insurance market, the company reported.
